Previously, Susan was a Managing Director at Makena Capital Management from 2006 through 2019, where she was a member of the firm's Management Committee and one of the firm's founding partners. Susan was responsible for managing Makena Capital's $2+ billion real estate investment portfolio.

Prior to joining Makena Capital, Susan was the Director of Real Estate and Real Assets Investments for the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation from 2002-2006. Susan also served as a Managing Director at the Stanford Management Company from 1993-2001, where she co-managed the real estate group. Prior to that, Susan was responsible for the development and management of the Stanford Research Park where she oversaw the development of over 1 million square feet on behalf of the University.

Susan currently serves on the Board of Directors of CBRE Group, KREST (a KKR sponsored non-traded REIT) and the Hewlett Foundation where she also serves as Chair of the Foundation’s Investment Committee. She is a member of the Stanford Bing Overseas Study Program Advisory Council and has served as an Overseer of the Tuck School at Dartmouth as well as the Dartmouth Investment Committee.

Susan graduated from Stanford University with an A.B., with Honors, and holds an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth. Study Program Advisory Council and  and serves as a Global Governing Trustee for ULI. Susan has served as an Overseer of the Tuck School at Dartmouth as well and has recently served on the Dartmouth Investment Committee. Susan graduated from Stanford University with an A.B., with Honors, and holds an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth.
